'Pitch Perfect 3' release date moved to December 2017; Anna Kendrick quits?
Anna Kendrick, star of the hit modern a cappella franchise, "Pitch Perfect," has reportedly quit the third upcoming movie.
Reports say that Kendrick has not been comfortable with the constant delays that the film has been going through. It is reported that the delays have forced her to have downtime from her usually busy schedule.
Ever since her breakthrough role in "Twilight" in 2008, Kendrick has garnered an impressive resume under her belt, starring in "Up in the Air," "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," and "Into the Woods." According to IMDb, Kendrick has five movies in 2016 alone. "I want to work harder to curate my choices, just so I don't ruin my life," says Kendrick to New York Magazine.
"Pitch Perfect" was a box office success with Kendrick on the starring role as Beca, an aspiring DJ who finds an unlikely knack for applying her music engineering skills to her ragtag all-girl a cappella group. Time will tell whether her departure from the series will hurt the movie or not, but with Variety reporting that Elizabeth Banks dropped out as director back in early June, it seems that fans will be missing a great chunk of the team that lead to the success of the first two movies.
"Pitch Perfect 3" is set to release on Dec. 22, 2017 — pushed back from its initial release date on July 21 the same year, and original cast members Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Hailee Steinfeld, Adam DeVine, and plenty more are expected to return. Kay Cannon will also be writing the script, and Elizabeth Banks, though not a director anymore, could still return for her role as Gail, one half of the comedic announcer duo with John (John Michael Higgins).
