PlayStation 4 Neo release date news: Sony confirms new console's development
The highly anticipated PlayStation 4 Neo has finally been confirmed by Sony. It has been a favorite subject of several rumors and speculations for quite some time. The announcement has delighted many fans who are expecting the device to come out with 4K support.
The announcement came from no other than the president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Andrew House, during an interview with Financial Times. House revealed that the company is currently working on a new PlayStation console with 4K resolution capability.
"It is intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4," said the Sony boss. "We will be selling both [versions] through the life cycle."
He has also said that game developers should not have any problem when it comes to game development. Making games compatible for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Neo would not be that hard as it will only require minimal effort.
House did not really go into the full details of the console's development and the release date. However, he did mention that the device will be more expensive than the current version of PlayStation 4, which is currently being priced at $350.
To the fans who are expecting Sony to showcase the device at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 2016, they might get a little disappointed as the Sony president said that the console will not be launched at the event.
"We want to ensure we have a full range of the best experiences on the new system that we can showcase in their entirety," House added.
Meanwhile, Microsoft is also said to announce a new console this year to compete with PlayStation 4 Neo. However, this has yet to be confirmed by the American software giant.
Sony has yet to reveal the release date of the upcoming console. Nonetheless, many fans believe that the company will launch the device during the fourth quarter of this year.
