With just a few more days left in September, PlayStation Plus subscribers are on the edge of their seats waiting for the official list of free games for the month of October.

With the announcement from Sony possibly just days away, the internet is nonetheless rife with people's predictions about which beloved PlayStation games could end up on the free games list for next month. Various reports indicate that the list could feature a number of triple-A titles, including such beloved video games as "Assassin's Creed 4," "Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition," and "Killzone: Shadow Fall."

This Gen Gaming suggests that "Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition" is a good choice given that "Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration Edition" is scheduled to come out for the PS4 next month. Releasing the Definitive Edition for free will surely whet "Tomb Raider" fans' appetites for more of the action/adventure video game. "Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition" was first released in 2014.

"Killzone: Shadow Fall," the sixth installment in the "Killzone" first-person shooter video game series, is another rumored addition to the PS Plus free games list for October. PlayStation Universe notes that "Killzone: Mercenary," another installment in the "Killzone" franchise, was previously made available for free for PS Plus subscribers.

GamenGuide suggests "Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag" as another likely addition to the October list of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. The outlet points out that the video game has been around for a while and has earned a substantial fanbase. It has also been previously made available for free on other gaming platforms.

To recap, the line-up of free games for September included "Journey," "Lords of the Fallen," "Badland," "Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands," "Datura," and "Amnesia: Memories." With the list being so well-received, it seems likely that Sony will want to top — or at least match — the caliber of the September games.

Free downloadable games are one of the features of a PlayStation Plus subscription.

The official PlayStation Plus Free Games list for October 2016 will likely be available before the end of this month.
