'Pokémon Sun and Moon' news update: sales in France set new record; Magearna and other must-have Pokémon detailed
A few weeks following the official release of "Pokémon Sun and Moon," the titles have already become the best-selling installments of the franchise in France.
The Pokémon Company shipped 425,000 copies of the game in the said country alone, which is more than the number of copies of "Pokémon X and Y" and "Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire" combined in the region.
The former sold 125,000 copies in France while the latter managed to rake in 180,000 sales. "Pokémon Sun and Moon" sold 1.5 million copies in Europe altogether.
Apart from the insane number of sales, tips and tricks in getting the best of "Pokémon Sun and Moon" have also flooded the World Wide Web.
The titles undoubtedly bolstered the already massive Pokemon roster. One of the additions is the mythical Pokémon, Magearna, who is part of the "Pokémon: Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel" movie coming out in the United States today.
To commemorate the big day, The Pokémon Company is making Magearna available in "Pokémon Sun and Moon." Players can go to the official website to do so.
"Players who have already finished their Alola adventure can scan a QR Code to unlock the Pokémon in their Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon game with the new QR Scanner feature," the developer wrote on its blog.
Meanwhile, those who are looking to dominate "Pokémon Sun and Moon" should find the best pocket monsters for the job. For this ambitious feat, players should have at least three of these Pokémon to aid them.
First is the bug- and water-type Pokémon known as Golisopod, which evolves from Wimpod at level 30 of the game. Golisopod enjoys a serious boost in power and can perform the dreaded move called the X-Scissor.
What makes Golisopod more useful is its Emergency Exit ability, which allows the Pokemon to get to safety when the HP drops dangerously low (below half).
X-Scissor also comes in handy for the "Pokémon Sun and Moon" behemoth, which is Vikavolt. In addition to this move, it can also do the killer Volt Switch, which not only allows it to switch out of battle like the Golisopod but also to do some damage on the opponent while he is at it.
To get Vikavolt, "Pokémon Sun and Moon" players should evolve Grubbin to Charjabug at level 20 and then work their way to becoming Vast Poni Canyon.
Another "Pokémon Sun and Moon" must-have has to be Crabominable, a fighting- and ice-type Pokémon whose signature move, Iron Fist, boosts his punch damage by 20 percent.
Its moves also have high Attack stats such as the Ice Hammer, Ice Punch Dizzy Punch and Fire Punch with the added force of the Iron Fist. Crabrawler evolves to Crabominable when players are already by the Mount Lanakila levels.
