'Pokemon Sun and Moon' release date, rumors, update: More Alola Pokemon, Mega Evolution to be revealed today?

The much-awaited "Pokemon" game title, "Pokemon Sun and Moon," is expected to arrive in just a few weeks. Yet, more information is coming in regarding the contents of the upcoming game. The fans have seen the teasers of the upcoming game for the past few months, and one of the most interesting content teasers is the introduction of the Alolan Pokemon. It was revealed that the traditional pocket monsters will be having their Alolan versions. In the coming days, The Pokemon Company might reveal more Alola Pokemon plus the new special Pokemon transformation in "Pokemon Sun and Moon."

As reported by International Business Times, the next update for "Pokemon Sun and Moon" will be out today, Oct. 4. While the details to be teased are not yet known, it is very likely that more Alolan Pokemon will be revealed in the said update. Last August, the Alolan Meowth was already introduced, bearing the same appearance of the original Meowth although the Alolan Meowth's unique and dark vibe is noticeable. It is said that the Pokemon residing in the upcoming game's featured Alola region are different from the rest. In the case of Alolan Meowth, he was modified into a Dark-type Pokemon due to being associated with the Alolan region's prominent family.

It is also possible that Alolan Meowth's next form, Alolan Persian, will also be revealed in the next update for "Pokemon Sun and Moon." Likewise, the evolution of the new starter Pokemon introduced in the previous updates will be revealed in today's reveal.

People at the Reddit forums have also been speculating that the Mega Evolutions will finally hit the Alolan region in "Pokemon Sun and Moon," and the confirmation may happen in the next update. It should be noted, however, that The Pokemon Company and Game Freak have not yet confirmed or denied these recent rumors, so it would be best to follow the new "Pokemon Sun and Moon" update coming today.

"Pokemon Sun and Moon" will be released as a Nintendo 3DS handheld exclusive game on Nov. 18.
