'Pokèmon GO' cheats update: Niantic to ban players using cheats?

"Pokèmon GO" has immediately become a worldwide sensation after its release last week. Many fans are currently trying to find ways on how they can gain advantage against other players. Fortunately for them, several cheats, tips and tricks are starting to emerge online to help them achieve what their goal in the game is.

According to reports, the new "Pokèmon GO" cheat allows gamers to travel many miles to catch Pokèmon without going outside or just by staying home. | Facebook/Pokemon GO

The point of the game is to catch, train and trade Pokèmon. However, you need to do all that in a real life scenario since "Pokèmon GO" was made to be an augmented reality game. Players must go out and walk or travel until they encounter other Pokèmons.

According to reports, the new "Pokèmon GO" cheat allows gamers to travel many miles to catch Pokèmon without going outside or just by staying home. Many players have already tried it using the GPS app that comes as a built-in feature of smartphones these days.

Morning News USA reported that other players download a certain app to automatically activate GPS spoofing. After the installation and a little tweak in the settings, players can choose any location on the map.

"Make sure you change locations at a human speed. There is a setting at the bottom that automatically moves location randomly," explained by a user in subreddit. "Set the distance to something small so you move as if you were running (maybe a bit faster) and just leave your phone on to gain [kilometers]."

Meanwhile, according to a report by Motherboard Vice, game developer Niantic has already announced to permanently ban players who use these cheats to gain advantage against other gamers. Apparently, it is part of the game's terms and conditions not to use any third party software that can affect game operation.

As of the moment, there is yet to be a report of players getting banned for using such strategy.
