Police are reportedly searching for a disgruntled employee of a local Virginia news station who opened fire on his co-workers Wednesday morning, killing an on-camera news anchor and a cameraman.

24-year-old Alison Parker and 27-year-old Adam Ward of WDBJ-TV were filming a segment at the Bridgewater Plaza in Franklin County at around 6:45 a.m. this morning when a gunman reportedly opened fire on the two employees.

Video from the incident shows Parker screaming as gunshots are heard, and then Ward falling to the ground with the camera. The camera appears to capture the image of the suspect, who is wearing dark pants and a navy shirt.

Following the shooting, the camera switches back to the station, where a visibly-shocked anchor says: "OK, not sure what happened there. We will of course let you know as soon as we find out what those sounds were from."

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe confirmed Wednesday morning that the shooter behind the incident was a known employee who was reportedly disgruntled with his co-workers.

Despite reports from multiple media outlets, local police have said that they are not currently involved in a hot pursuit of the suspect. Gov. McAuliffe called the suspect's arrest "imminent," adding "It's just a tragedy."

The Augusta County Sherriff's Office confirmed shortly after the shooting that they were searching for suspect Vester Lee Flannigan, a former reporter at the station who goes by the professional name of Bryce Williams.

"We are trying to figure out what just happened -- thank you all for your concern and kind words," the WDBJ7 media outlet posted on Twitter shortly after the shooting.
