Starz has given the green light to a fourth and fifth season for its highly rated crime drama "Power."

The network announced the double season renewal on Tuesday, July 19, two days after the hotly anticipated "Power" season 3 aired its premiere episode.

The Starz series follows drug lord James "Ghost" St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick), a New York City nightclub owner, as he balances a double life and attempts to leave the illegal drugs industry to focus on his legitimate business.

"Power" was created by Courtney Kemp Agboh and is executive produced by Randall Emmett, Mark Canton, Gary Lennon, and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, who also stars in the series.

"I knew 'Power' was going to be something special from the first concept meeting I had with Mark Canton," 50 Cent said in a statement, adding that the show's fans have been the driving force for its success. The rapper/producer also expressed that he is eager to offer two more seasons filled with action and suspense.

"In today's content landscape, it is challenging for a series to stand out," Starz president and CEO Chris Albrecht said in a statement on Tuesday. Albrecht praised Agboh's "singular voice" and Curtis' "immense talent," which, he said, has helped propel the show's success.

"Along with our executive producers and the talented 'Power' cast and crew, they have created one of the most distinct dramas I've ever had the good fortune of putting on the air," the Starz boss added.

Meanwhile, Agboh credited Albrecht and Starz for believing in the show "from the very beginning," adding, "Everyone here at 'Power' is deeply grateful for the tremendous support we have received from the fans of the show, which made today's announcement possible."

"Power" is just one of 50 Cent's forays into the television industry. He is currently developing an A+E series that he will reportedly executive produce as well as host. In 2013, he executive produced the Sundance TV unscripted series "Dream School."

"Power" season 3 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on Starz.
