Prince Harry, Meghan Markle dating rumors: Royal 'besotted' with new girlfriend, bombarded her with text messages
Prince Harry of Wales is reportedly secretly dating "Suits" actress Meghan Markle, whom he supposedly met at a charity event and bombarded with text messages until she agreed to go out with him. The pair are said to have gone on a number of dates and are reportedly getting serious with each other.
According to The Sun, a friend of the prince said that the two are "the real deal." "He definitely pursued her and besieged her with texts until she agreed to a date," the unnamed informant allegedly said.
"He is very full-on but she was going through quite a tough time with her previous boyfriend and she was very flattered," the source added.
The Telegraph reported that Markle had been in a two-year relationship with chef and Food Network host Cory Vitiello but the two broke up in May. It was reportedly around this time that Prince Harry asked for the actress' phone number after their first meeting at a function.
When asked if Prince Harry was a factor in Markle and Vitiello's break-up, a source close to the latter said, "I can't comment on that."
According to The Sun, its informant claimed that the two spent time at London's Soho House with friends in July. They later had two more dates — just the two of them — and that Harry "swept [the actress] off her feet."
Markle is best known for her role as Rachel Zane in the American legal drama "Suits." She has also appeared in the TV shows "The Fringe," "Castle," "90210," and "The League."
Like her rumored beau, Markle is heavily involved in humanitarian work. Earlier this year, she became the Global Ambassador for World Vision Canada. She has worked as an advocate for the United Nations Women, traveled to Rwanda for the Clean Water campaign, and visited Afghanistan with the chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on a USO tour. In 2014 and in 2016, she spoke about gender equality and modern day slavery at the One Young World summits.
In September 2011, Markle married film producer Trevor Engelson in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. People reports that they split two years later.
