Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, has announced his wife Kate Middleton is feeling "so-so" after suffering acute morning sickness while carrying her second child.

William said on a recent visit to Malta that his wife was still battling the symptoms that accompany acute morning sickness. "She's so-so, she's up and down at the moment," William told visitor Sandra Lant, 70, who is originally from Suffolk, Great Britain.

Another visitor to the island told People magazine that many of the sightseers in Malta were hoping to spot Kate Middleton. "A lot of the locals I have spoken to have said: 'Who's William?' " Sue Wilding of Warwickshire, England, told People magazine. "I think they would have preferred to have seen Kate."

Kate was reportedly supposed to visit Malta herself, but William went in her place due to her ongoing medical troubles. The Duchess of Cambridge suffered similar symptoms of hyperemesis gravidarum when she was pregnant with the couple's first child, George.

Despite her ongoing sickness, Kensington Palace in London happily announced Middleton's second pregnancy back in August.

"Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their second child," the palace said in a statement. "The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news."

William has previously said that although Kate's pregnancy has been "difficult," he is thrilled at the prospect of a new child in the family. George was born last July at a London-area hospital.
