'Prison Break' reboot spoilers update: Michael wears new tattoos; season 5 to witness Sara's death?

Wentworth Miller as Michael Scofield and Dominic Purcell as Lincoln Burrows in "Prison Break" | Fox

The upcoming Fox revival of "Prison Break," which is advertised as the fifth season of the 11-year-old serial drama, will feature a tattooed — and very much alive — Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) who will be found by his brother Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) locked away in some foreign prison. One character is rumored to die and speculations are rife that it will be Sara Tancredi's (Sarah Wayne Callies) life that will have to be sacrificed.

In a question and answer between fans and "Prison Break" writers on Twitter, the latter reminded that Michael had all his tattoos erased in the fourth season. And seeing him in the trailer of the "Prison Break" revival wearing new tattoos makes an interesting observation and leads to a curious question of what the significance of his new body art might be.

Meanwhile, the idea that Sara might be killed off in the upcoming season of "Prison Break" spawns from reports that the character was originally intended to meet early demise in season 1. However, the show's production decided against pushing forward with the initial plan for Callies' character and kept her alive for the remaining of the seasons. It is said that Sara being an audience favorite was the main reason for the change in the character's fictional fate. Yet this time in "Prison Break" season 5, she might actually be that one mainstay character speculated to have to face death.

The promotional clip released by Fox showed the return of important old characters, namely T-Bag (Robert Knepper), C-Note (Rockmond Dunbar) and Sucre (Amaury Nolasco). They will work together with Lincoln to try and execute another prison break for Michael. The trailer also shows Sara living simply with a husband and her son with Michael.

Fans will find out more about Michael's tattoos and Sara's fate in a couple of months when "Prison Break" returns to the small screens in its fifth season in 2017.
