Professing atheist admits to feeling God's presence in her life

A self-professing atheist has revealed that she feels God's presence around her.

Elizabeth King, a writer and former charismatic Christian, admitted that in spite of her unbelief in God, she continues to feel His presence in her life.

"The idea of God pesters me and makes me think that maybe I'm not as devoted to my beliefs as I'd like to think I am and would like to be," she admitted.

King also said that even without knowing it, she sometimes feels afraid to go to hell, and wants to go to heaven. She shared her frustration as she has already purposed to become an atheist.

King concluded that her unbelief may not be strong enough, with the presense of God especially strong in times when she is frustrated with life.

Interestingly, King is not the only atheist who claims to feel God's presence.

Author of "The God Delusion", Richard Dawkins, has previously said that the idea of Christianity has continued to bother him. He said that there are no Christians who "blow up buildings", or "become suicide bombers". Neither are there Christians who kill and persecute their brothers who have turned their backs from their faith.

"I have mixed feelings about the decline of Christianity, insofar as Christianity might be a bulwark (defense) against something worse," Dawkins said, alluding to the insurgence of ISIS.

Atheists nowadays openly express their unbelief in God, although they still consider creation and nature as something that is a result of a higher force that is operating. However, they do not see it as God, but refer to it as the 'universe' or 'mother nature'.
