PS Plus free games October 2016 list predictions news: 'XCOM: Enemy Unknown' likely to be included; Price increase expected
There are only a few days left for the month of September, and for the avid players and subscribers of Sony's PlayStation Plus, it is time to look out for the new lineup of free games next month. People can still obtain the available game titles for the month of September as of the meantime, although time is running out as the list is going to be refreshed starting next week.
Song has not yet announced the list of free game titles this October, and the announcement is not yet expected to happen until later today. However, there are already speculations regarding the video games that might make it to the PS Plus list of free games next month. One of the most likely game titles that might be featured as a free game this October is "XCOM: Enemy Unknown." According to the Daily Star UK, "XCOM: Enemy Unknown" might be included in the lineup for the coming month as a kind of promotion for its sequel. To note, "XCOM 2" is set to be released later this week on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, so it might be a great idea to feature the first "XCOM" title as a free video game in PS Plus to promote the sequel.
Moreover, Sony may also decide to make "XCOM: Enemy Unknown" a free game for the month of October as their top competitor, Microsoft, has also featured the game in the PS Plus counterpart, the Xbox Games With Gold.
For now, the PS Plus subscribers can still check out the free games for September. As listed by Express UK, "Badland" is still available in PS Vita, PS4, and PS3 consoles, while "Journey" is up for both PS4 and PS3. For the PS4 game titles, PS Plus subscribers can have "Lords of the Fallen" for free, while for PS3, there are "Prince of Persia, The Forgotten Sands" and "Datura." Meanwhile, "Amnesia: Memories" remains a free game in PS Vita.
On the other hand, it was reported that the PS Plus subscribers in North America are bracing for a price increase, wherein the membership fee will be increased to $59.99 USD or $69.99 CAD for twelve months. The payment for three months will be changed to $24.99 USD or $29.99 CAD.
"The monthly plan will change to $11.99 CAD in Canada, and remain $9.99 USD in the U.S. If you are a current member, the new prices will take effect if your membership renews on or after this date," Sony explained via Daily Star.
