'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date news 2016: Fans anticipating August reveal

Desperately hoping for a sequel, fans of "Red Dead Redemption" were left disappointed after developers Rockstar Games remained silent about the game during the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016.

However, fans are seemingly excited about August as it is confirmed by Gamescom that Take-Two Interactive, who is the parent publisher of Rockstar, will be present at the expo in Cologne.

Express disclosed that Take-Two Interactive may be revealing something special as they are profiled to show products and commodity groups of three genres; namely action/adventure, sport, and strategy.

Given that the original "Red Dead Redemption" is listed as an open-world, western action-adventure, then there is some hope that the sequel will be on full display in Cologne next month.

While there is no specific piece of information telling that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will indeed be showing, supporters are holding on to the fact that Take-Two Interactive did confirm that they were coming out with some big projects soon.

In fact, VG 24/7 reported the same thing back in May, quoting Take-Two Interactive saying: "Rockstar Games is of course hard at work on some exciting future projects that will be revealed soon."

With that in mind, there are still others not putting too much hope on it. This is because, in E3 2016, Take-Two Interactive revealed that they would be at the expo in a big way. This eventually meant that they had a big booth to help market "Mafia 3."

Additionally, despite the rumors and some hints referring to the coming of "Red Dead Redemption 2," it could also be that the action/adventure game that the brand is set to expose next month is another gangster shooter that will release this year.

The original "Red Dead Redemption" was released back in 2010 and received very positive reviews from various websites and gaming critics. It is still considered as one of the best open-world games at the moment.
