Report: Eighth Suspect in Paris Terror Attack Flees to Syria

Sources are claiming that the eighth terror suspect believed to have been involved in the recent Paris terror attacks has escaped to Syria.

Unidentified French intelligence sources have reportedly told CNN that Salah Abdeslam, who was one of France's most wanted criminals in the wake of the Paris terror attack that left 129 people dead, has allegedly fled the country for the Middle East.

The suspect, who was detained by French police shortly after the terror attack but then released, is suspected as being one of the gunmen who opened fire on multiple restaurants during the November 13 attack.

Media reports indicate that Abdeslam was also supposed to be an eighth suicide bomber during that evening's attack, but reportedly abandoned his suicide vest in a local trash can before taking part in the café shootings.

Intelligence sources in Belgium told Politico that "[we] were quite sure he was abroad again."

According to the Wall Street Journal, Abdeslam is also believed to have rented three cars that were used in the terror attacks.

The Wall Street Journal also reports that Abdeslam met one of his childhood friends, Ali Oulkadi, at a café in Belgium the day after the attack to discuss what had transpired.

"Salah was particularly nervous," Olivier Martins, the lawyer representing Oulkadi, told the media outlet.

"My client was in shock," he added, saying that Abdeslam's brother, Brahim, had been a close friend to Oulkadi since their childhood days.
