'Resident Evil 7: Biohazard' release date updates and news: Capcom announces Resident Evil 7, game heading for January 2017 release
Game developer and publisher Capcom has finally announced the upcoming seventh installment of the long-running action-adventure third-person shooter horror video game, "Resident Evil." The game is titled "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" and will come out in January 2017 for PlayStation VR.
Prior to the announcement, rumors have been circulating for quite some time regarding the development, gameplay and release date of the game. One of the biggest issues for fans is the game's lack of horror. Apparently, the last few titles of the series have been action focus and less horror, which has always been the storyline of the franchise including the motion picture series.
The new "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" is nothing like the last three installments. It promises to go back to its horror roots that will certainly give players that terrifying vibe they didn't feel from the last few game titles.
It will be interesting how the game will play out for fans on PlayStation VR. According to The Verge, the game will also be available on PlayStation 4. Many fans are hoping that the game will also make it on PlayStation NEO.
Right after the announcement at the ongoing Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 event, Capcom released a teaser called "Beginning Hour." The game developer and publisher have also given fans the chance to see the live demo of the new game title at the Sony E3 conference. The task is to escape the farmhouse as the character appeared to have been stuck in a dark scary abandon house.
The demo was rather short but there are things seemingly waiting to be discovered. Nonetheless, there are fans who didn't find the demo as exciting as some people did.
"Resident: Evil Biohazard" will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC starting Jan. 24, 2017. Will the game make it on the highly anticipated PlayStation NEO? That remains to be seen.
