'Resident Evil 7' Collector's Edition news, features: Capcom announces Gamestop Collector's Edition
Capcom recently announced that the upcoming survival horror video game "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" will have a Gamestop collector's edition. Gamers can purchase it for $180.
"Resident Evil 7" is an upcoming game developed and published by Capcom. It will launch next year, specifically on Jan. 24 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows PCs. The collector's edition of the video game will include six special items and a miniature mansion.
According to reports, the mansion is an intricately detailed replica of the Baker plantation, which is the setting for the "Resident Evil 7" video game. The mansion is an 8-inch model equipped with LED lighting and its own speakers. The replica can play a creepy sample of the game's main theme song titled "Go Tell Aunt Rhody."
Aside from this, the collector's edition will come with a lithograph of the Baker family, a VHS tape box, and a note with the message "I shall dash you against the stones." The game's disc will be encased in a steel book. The tape box will contain the bulk of the content for the game, which will also include a dummy finger that's actually a 4 GB flash drive. To note, these items were all mentioned at the Beginning Hour demo for the game in June.
This special package is reportedly a joint effort by the developers and Project Triforce, which is the company responsible for the box sets of various games such as "Halo," "Mass Effect" and "Battlefield."
The collector's edition of "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" is expected to be available the same time the game launches on Jan. 24. The collector's edition will not be available for PC gaming. Players who want to purchase the package can find it at Gamestop, where it will be sold exclusively. So far, Capcom hasn't announced if it will add bonus downloadable content for pre-orders and if it will be selling exclusive retailer editions of the upcoming title.
