Revenge Season 4 Spoilers, News: ABC Show Needs 'Reinvention' to Keep Going Strong
While fans may feel like "Revenge" is inching closer to its end, ABC has clarified that the drama series is still going strong.
Despite this, ABC boss Paul Lee said the network is looking for ways to reinvent the show as he hinted of more episodes to come.
During the Television Critics Association (TCA)'s winter TV previews, Lee also shared about "great storylines" that will be coming up for the show in 2015. "I really love the show. We'll see where we go with it. They have some great storylines coming up this year," Lee told reporters.
"There are ways to reinvent it, too," the network executive added, according to the Entertainment Weekly.
Once a ratings hit for the network, the Emily Van Camp starrer series has fallen far from it series debut, which drew 10 million viewers in September 2011, according the Entertainment Weekly.
Its latest episode only brought in 4 million viewers, who have been hoping for a happy ending for Emily Thorne, the publication said.
And as the show turns darker, a lot of the show's loyal followers have been speculating that the ABC series Is about to reach its conclusion.
Showrunner Sunil Nayyar suspected a bittersweet plot "because of all the losses that have come along the way and because of everything that's happened."
"Her appearance in the Hamptons at the beginning of the show has caused a ripple effect that has led to victories and losses that are so epic that I think it will be hard," Nayyar said.
"However, it is the way we chose to end her story, for her to just walk away feeling perfect about everything," the showrunner added.
"Revenge" has become ABC's highest-rated series in its Wednesday's 10 p.m. timeslot since the 2006–2007 season of "Lost."
"Revenge," which is now on its fourth year, has also become the only new series to replicate the 18–49 demo ratings success that "Lost" had in its timeslot since leaving the air.
