Fans who were waiting to catch the premiere episode of "Rick and Morty" season 3 this week will be disappointed, after series co-creator Justin Roiland turned to Twitter to deny the rumors.

Speculations claimed that the highly anticipated return of the fan-favorite animated series on Adult Swim will happen on Monday, Jan. 9. But the rumors proved to be false since the network did not air the expected premiere episode.

Roiland told his social media followers that there is no truth to the rumors, and they never intended to air the season 3 premiere this week.

Roiland and series co-creator Dan Harmon remain mum about the plot of "Rick and Morty" season 3, and the Developmental Meeting that was posted by Adult Swim as a live stream event revealed that the animation for the upcoming season is not yet complete.

However, the producers of the series revealed that they managed to insert a few sound effects at this point. But Roiland already recorded the voices for both Rick and Morty.

The live stream that was posted by Slash Film showed that Morty learned that his apple of the eye Jessica is already looking to have a special man in her life. But his grandfather Rick decided to take him to a new intergalactic adventure. This means that he will have to pass up the chance to make his move on his longtime crush.

Meanwhile, the pair will be involved in an epic space battle against a gigantic monster that almost ended their lives.

The upcoming season of "Rick and Morty" is also expected to feature Rick's attempt to escape the intergalactic prison where he was detained at the end of season 2. Morty is expected to help his grandfather in his quest to break out of prison.

The premiere date of "Rick and Morty" season 3 is expected to premiere in Adult Swim sometime in 2017.
