'Rick and Morty' season 3 release date, plot spoilers: Will the premiere push through in Dec. 2?
Adult Swim's "Rick and Morty" had been subject to many speculations since its third season was anticipated. Earlier this month, the premiere of its third season was pegged at Dec. 2, but now that the day is near and the network still fails to release any announcement or teasers about its impending debut, it seems like fans are not looking at an early treat after all.
As of this moment, the Dec. 2 release date also remains as speculation as this was not confirmed by Adult Swim or the creators of "Rick and Morty" just yet. Although show creator Dan Harmon previously teased fans that the premiere of its season 3 will happen earlier than fans expected.
Several writers of the show already confirmed that they are done working with the script. Erica Rosbe, Sarah Carbiener and Dan Guterman each announced that they wrapped up "Rick and Morty's" season 3 work and that the material was already sent to Bardel Entertainment in Canada for final processing.
Rosbe, however, previously hinted that the show's production team are slow in progress. "We ended four weeks ago, I think. I think they're done soon, they're done really soon. I think in a week or two they're going to have screenings in the production office," she says in a previous interview.
Meanwhile, several reports also claim that only nine out of 14 episodes are currently ready for airing, so in all, the premiere of "Rick and Morty" season 3 might be delayed to make sure each episode is already ready.
Fans are still hopeful that the premiere will happen by next month, Dec. 2016 — given that there are already nine of the episodes ready for airing, and the production can just set up a deadline for the remaining episodes to finish by the time the ninth episode is set to air.
The third season of the show is speculated to focus on Rick's escape from his intergalactic prison.
