'Rick and Morty' season 3 release date, rumors, latest news: Will Rick stage a prison break in season 3?
Fans of the adult cartoon series "Rick and Morty" have been waiting for quite a while for news about the release date of the much-adored show. However, it looks like the waiting won't be for that much longer.
Originally, "Rick and Morty" season 3 was expected to come out before the end of 2016. As the adult cartoon show is still in production and with only a few days remaining until the year ends, that scenario has become very unlikely to ever happen.
Aside from series creator Dan Harmon's social media meltdown on Twitter, there's not much news heard about the progress of the show's third season. That is until Adult Swim released an animatic sneak peek clip during a Livestream of Adult Swim's "Development Meeting."
The clip begins with Morty eavesdropping on Jessica and her friends who were busy talking about dating. He hears that Jessica is single and attempts to jump into their conversation. However, this was cut short with the arrival of old Rick who asks the boy to join him on an intergalactic adventure. They end up in the middle of a chaotic battle against alien monsters, and the duo barely survived the experience.
After the insane encounter, Morty cries loudly and exclaims that he can't do it anymore. Rick is equally disturbed, believing that they only survived out of sheer luck. He also ends up saying that he needs a vacation.
As for the possible plot of the beginning of the third season, many speculations have already surfaced. As reported by Mobile & Apps, there are speculations on websites like Reddit that Rick could be going to prison to help Squanchy and the rest of his rebel fighter friends escape. Since viewers didn't witness the death of his good friend at the wedding, there are assumptions that Squanchy is still alive. Hence, Rick's story in season 3 might start with getting himself arrested to break out Squanchy from imprisonment.
As for its release date, Mobi Picker reports that the wait is not as long and uncertain as before. The third season of Adult Swim's cartoon series "Rick and Morty" is expected to air in the first week of January 2017.
