'Rick and Morty' season 3 release date: Show will be back at yearend as promised
It appears that "Rick and Morty" season 3 will make it to the promised 2016 premiere after all with two new writers for the animated series confirming the good news.
According to Inverse, writers Erica Rosbe and Sarah Carbiener revealed in the latest podcast for "Chicks Who Script" that Rick and Morty will be back this December.
Some media outlets were starting to report that "Rick and Morty" season 3 is facing the possibility of being delayed to next year especially with the lack of updates from the team.
Back in January during the Comic-Con panel, show creator Dan Harmon revealed that they are targeting to premiere the new season "around the end of this year".
The excitement was already far above the ground at that time even though it was just the start of the year. Now, fans are a couple of months away from seeing their favorite grandfather and grandson duo.
Making this more electrifying is the fact that "Rick and Morty" season 3 will have 14 episodes, which is four more than the previous season.
"Rick and Morty" season 3 will see the mad scientist struggle in the Galactic Prison, but he is expected to be out of there eventually.
How that will happen is a mystery at the moment, but fans speculate that Morty will have a lot to do with it as well as some familiar characters.
Rick's prison time is not expected to be the best experience. During his stay there, fans will meet Gromflamite Prison General, who fans will "look forward to disliking."
There are also reports about Morty's parents getting divorced in "Rick and Morty" season 3, which would mean plenty of struggles for the titular duo.
This should be no shock "Rick and Morty" season 3 is set to feature some of the darkest episodes the show has ever had.
With regards to a specific release date, fans can expect "Rick and Morty" season 3 to premiere around December on Adult Swim.
