'Rick and Morty' season 3 spoilers, news: Teaser release date announced in since-deleted Adult Swim Instagram post

Adult Swim may have inadvertently announced the release date for a "Rick and Morty" season 3 teaser trailer.

The promo photo posted by the Adult Swim Instagram account, which was captioned "Get Ready," indicated that the release date for the season 3 teaser was "Friday night - 12:15 EST." The post has since been deleted but not before Adult Swim fans were able to take screencaps of the announcement.

According to iDigital Times, while it is possible that the alleged post was merely a hoax, many have confirmed that they saw the post on the Adult Swim Instagram account before it was deleted.

The outlet suggests that the cable network may have taken down the announcement because it is pushing back the teaser's release.

"Rick and Morty," which debuted in December 2013 and has since received critical praise, was renewed for a 14-episode season 3 in August 2015. The new season is currently in production and is expected to premiere by the end of the year.

According to reports, the upcoming season of the popular adult animated sci-fi sitcom could feature Summer Smith, Morty's older sister, joining the latter in helping Rick, their grandfather, with his mad experiments and escapades. "Summer's Future," the four-minute mini-episode released earlier this month, gave a major hint of Summer's future involvement in Rick and Morty's shenanigans in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Collider, "Rick and Morty" co-creator Dan Harmon expressed his wish to have "Fast & Furious" actor Vin Diesel voice a character in the show.

"I just want to meet Vin Diesel," he said. "I know he plays D&D so I just want to have a conversation with him about doing it."

Harmon also named actors Dom DeLuise and Gary Coleman as two of his dream voiceover guests.

"Rick and Morty" season 3 is currently without an official release date.
