'Rick & Morty' season 3 release date, spoilers: Still no official release date for AdultSwim's animated comedy series?

Fans and viewers of "Rick and Morty" season 3 had their hopes up last August when it was rumored that the animated series will premiere sometime in the month. However, August came and went, but there is still no sign of the highly anticipated animated series.

Creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland are trying their hardest to keep the air date for "Rick and Morty" season 3 under wraps, saying that they want to make the upcoming installment a good one for fans of the show. Apparently, it's the writers themselves who frowned on earlier scripts, since they felt it didn't do much justice to the upcoming season.

According to reports, the third season of AdultSwim's popular animated series will have more episodes than the first two seasons. Moreover, the upcoming installment might be tackling more serious issues, with speculations pointing to Beth and Jerry Smith's impending divorce.

On the other hand, Mike McMahan, one of "Rick and Morty's" writers, teased via Twitter that while there might be a delay in the release of season 3, it will be one of the best seasons for the series. McMahan's statement only served to increase the hype for the third season of the show.

According to Movie Pilot, season 3 might pick up from where season 2 ended, with the Galactic Federation catching up with Rick. However, season 3 will not dwell on Rick's escape from prison. If Harmon is to be believed, Rick will get out of prison without much fanfare, as he explained things will return to normal "pretty quickly."

With 14 episodes expected for "Rick and Morty" season 3, fans can expect the structure of the plot to change. As the outlet presumes, there might be more than a couple of narratives running throughout the season, which is much different from the previous setups.

"Rick and Morty" season 3 is expected to premiere before the end of the year or early 2017. In the meantime, keep coming back for more updates on the series.
