Ricky Martin Death Hoax Rumors: Singer Unfazed By False News
Ricky Martin – the Puerto Rican singing sensation who churned out hits like "Maria,"" and "Livin' La Vida Loca" – was recently labeled as "dead" on the Internet.
Addressing the elaborate death hoax, which is the latest in a string of such rumors about top celebrities, Martin sent out a set of photos from a beautiful holiday spot and labeled them as "heaven."
Before Martin took to Instagram to reply to the death hoax, several websites reported that there was a video on YouTube showing an accident that he was involved in. According to the video, the motor vehicle accident took place near Los Angeles and resulted in Martin's death. However, the report of the death came in from Marin County, which is located north of San Francisco and several hundred miles away.
Even though the YouTube video had many glaring errors such as cars with license plates from a different country, which were being driven on the wrong side of the road, many fans of the singer soon took to social media sites to express their anguish at his alleged death.
However, Martin seemed unfazed by the death hoax in his posts on Instagram where he posted photos showing him holidaying in a beautiful location. In one of the photos showing him on a sandy beach, the caption read: "Hello from Heaven." In another photo showing a sunset scene, he wrote: "#Sunset in #heaven."
With the star's laid back reply to the death hoax, Time noted that he seemed to have a sense of humor about the whole episode, which would have angered or upset some other celebs.
Recently, Martin served as a coach on the reality singing show "The Voice Mexico." He is due to release a new album next month titled "A Quien Quiera Escuchar," the English translation of which is "For Whoever Wants to Listen."
