Crytek recently announced that the video game "Robinson: The Journey" will also launch an Oculus Rift version next year.

"Robinson: The Journey" is a VR game which allows players to step into the shoes of Robin, a boy stranded on an extrasolar planet in the aftermath of a failed space mission. With the help and company of HIGS (an artificial intelligence unit) and Laika (a baby T-Rex), Robin must use his intelligence to survive in the dinosaur-infested planet and to also attempt to search for other survivors.

Previously a PlayStation 4-exclusive virtual reality game, "Robinson: The Journey" is set to be released by Crytek on the PC platform with support for the Oculus Rift, according to Tech Times. The game recently got a boost in graphical fidelity when it moved from the PS4 to the PS4 Pro. Hence, it is also expected that the dinosaur exploration game would look even better on a high-powered PC equipped with a Rift VR headset.

According to the Engadget, aside from the PlayStation VR and the PC Oculus Rift VR, Crytek could also release "The Journey" in other VR platforms in the future, especially since the game developer company has been experiencing financial woes, and it needs all the help it can get to recover.

Crytek's video games have been known for their great graphics, and so, "Robinson: The Journey" is no different. As previously mentioned by IGN in a review, the game's scenery and creatures are "engrossing and beautifully designed" and that it is "one of the most graphically impressive games available on its platform."

However, despite the praise for its graphic display, the media outlet only rated the game 5.5 out of 10. The gameplay is reportedly lacking, preventing it from being any more than a virtual exhibit for re-imagined dinosaurs. The game is criticized for its slow progress and poor direction, which killed the VR experience's momentum.

According to Crytek, "Robinson: The Journey" will be released on the PC with Oculus Rift support in January 2017.
