Sacramento Kings trade rumors: Kings may need to trade Cousins

At the moment, the Sacramento Kings are having a respectable start to the season as they are 2-3 after the first five games.

However, there are still many questions for the team and keeping DeMarcus Cousins remains as one of the biggest things they have to deal with in the coming months. There are many rumors linking Cousins to a potential move away from the team.

It has been no secret that Cousins has been disappointed with the team's lack of ambition to bring in big players to play alongside the All-Star center and that they have yet to break the drought of missing out on the NBA playoffs.

Looking at the team from afar, the Heat appear to be a strong team with Cousins in the center of it, and players who can perform like Rudy Gay and Darren Collison.

Unfortunately, it has not translated to positive results and now questions are again being raised if Cousins should just be traded away in order for the team to start a rebuild.

Since his arrival in the 2010 draft, Cousins has steadily been one of the best players in the game. His averages speak for themselves as he scores 20.2 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.

This year, he has been great at 26 points and 10.2 rebounds per game in the first few appearances of the season.

Looking at his contract, Cousins still has two years, including this one, where he is scheduled to earn around $16.9 million. Next year, it will increase to $18 million but the Kings and Cousins should have already worked out a new deal in order for both parties to be happy.

Regardless if Cousins stays or leaves, it is important the Kings get him to sign a new contract or risk losing their star player for almost nothing. Getting Cousins a new deal will show his worth and will show other teams what they have to pay if they want Cousins' services.

It will be tough to pry the big man away from Sacramento, but if the Kings play their cards right then this is still highly possible.
