Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.0.1 Lollipop Upgrade News: New OS Rolls Out in Poland

ANDROID

The new Android operating system the Lollipop has been slowly making its way to various Android devices since it was released last November. This delayed release has been largely attributed to Samsung customizing the OS by layering it with the TouchWiz skin.

The Galaxy S5 was the first to receive the new Android OS, followed by the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4. Samsung started pushing the 5.0.1upgrade out to its Galaxy Note 4 devices in Poland.

The roll-out in Poland is being described as a "beta test" of the new 5.0.1 operating system on the international variant of the Note 4. Samsung could be looking to iron out any problems before it brings the upgrade to other countries.

Many users had expected Samsung to roll out the Lollipop upgrade for the Note 4 along with the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Note 3 last year, but that didn't happen. Recent reports said there was a delay in the code for the Gear VR accessory on the Note 4.

Following the recent news of the OS upgrade in Poland, Gottabemobile said Samsung seemed to be following the pattern it took with the Galaxy S5. That particular upgrade, after also starting in Poland, quickly spread to Korea, Spain and then to other countries.

Meanwhile, details about the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop upgrade for Galaxy Note 4 devices in other countries remain scant. Samsung has released almost no information apart from the earlier announcement that the upgrade would come to the Note 4 sometime in the first half of 2015.

Gottabemobile said the Note 4 will only be getting the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop version and not the latest versions – the 5.0.2 Lollipop – and the subsequent Android 5.1 Lollipop.

However, even the Android 5.0.1 upgrade is set to bring major improvements to the Note 4 in the form of better battery life, faster speed and a streamlined TouchWiz.
