Samsung Galaxy Note 8 release date, specs latest rumors: Samsung may collaborate with LG to prevent another battery fiasco
The Galaxy Note 7 may have been a fiasco, but Samsung is not going to give up on its line of Note phablets. Of course, winning back those lost customers isn't going to be easy, but recent reports say Samsung is doing whatever it can to make sure the same thing doesn't happen with the Galaxy Note 8. And it may also get some help from a rival company.
To solve the battery problems that have been plaguing the Galaxy Note 7, sources say Samsung has decided to work together with LG Chem, LG Corporation's battery manufacturing arm. The Investor has reported that Samsung has completed its own investigation on the matter and it has forwarded its findings to independent laboratories like UL and the Korea Testing Laboratory. Hopefully, the public will finally know what caused the Galaxy Note 7's battery to explode.
Meanwhile, sources say the Galaxy Note 8 may feature a foldable dual-screen display. It was also revealed that Samsung was planning to launch an artificial intelligence (AI) driven virtual assistant for the phablet. This will be an interesting addition to the device.
The U.S. Patent & Trademark Office has also revealed that Samsung has applied a patent for a new S-Pen stylus that doubles as a speaker, and reports say the Galaxy Note 8 may come out with this new device. Furthermore, industry insiders believe that the phablet may have 6GB of random-access emory (RAM) and 128GB of internal storage space, which can be expanded via a microSD card.
Sources say Samsung may launch the phablet in the second half of 2017.
As of this moment, Samsung has yet to announce that the Galaxy Note 8 is under development, although they have hinted that it isn't going to discontinue the line. Until Samsung makes a confirmation, all reports concerning the phablet are rumors at best, so readers are advised to take everything with a grain of salt.
