Samsung Galaxy Note 8 rumors: Device to have 4K display; Samsung to rename Galaxy Note series after Note 7 debacle?
Following the Galaxy Note 7 debacle last year, Samsung is determined to bring back consumer trust on the company's smartphone and tablet lines. Rumor has it that the tech giant will be taking things up a notch by introducing a 4K curved display for the upcoming Galaxy Note 8.
According to reports, the Note 8 will still be launched later this year. While details about the new tablet remain under wraps, it is speculated to debut sometime after the Galaxy S8 release sometime in the spring. The Note 7 and its most of its predecessors were launched in August, leading to speculations that the Note 8 will also be released around that month.
WCCFTech notes that the Korean tech company might drop the "Galaxy Note" name. It is believed that both Galaxy S8 and Note 8 will have the Exynos chipset. Since the two models will be similar in terms of hardware, Samsung is expected to come up with a new name for the phablet.
Samsung is reportedly planning to incorporate 4K displays into its upcoming devices. While it is possible for the Note 8 to have this type of technology, it might not be for everyone. Valuewalk points out that consumers may find it difficult to transition from 2K to 4K display because of its high resolution. However, it's worth noting that 4K works best for virtual reality games.
The upcoming phablet's other specs include a dual-lens camera, LG batteries, an iris scanner, and a revamped S Pen. Its size will be around 6.2 to 6.4 inches, and it will still have the traditional 3.5mm headphone socket. There have been rumors that a physical hardware button is being developed for the Bixby AI assistant, which will also be upgraded for the Note 8.
