Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge vs iPhone 6 Plus Specs Review: Camera Comparison - Clearer Pictures Even in Low Light
Apple has been quietly exuding confidence that the camera on its iPhone 6 Plus has the chops to take on cameras of other phablets and emerge victorious with better photos.
That has changed since Samsung launched the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, its new flagship smartphones. Comparing the camera on the Galaxy S6 Edge with that on the iPhone 6 Plus, it becomes clear that the smaller Samsung phone has a big advantage and produces better photos.
The iPhone 6 Plus comes with an 8 megapixel camera with a f/2.2 lens and image stabilization, while the Samsung Galaxy Edge has a 16 megapixel camera at its rear, with a f/1.9 lens and image stabilization.
A Dutch site mobilsiden.dk compared the camera on the iPhone 6 Plus against the one on the Galaxy S6 Edge. The test results showed that the Samsung camera took significantly better images especially in low-light situations. The test showed that the Galaxy S6 Edge was able to capture much more details than the iPhone 6 Plus. In low light, the photos from the Galaxy S6 Edge were not hazy and details were clearer especially at the edges of the photos, the Dutch website said.
Forbes said the camera on the iPhone 6 Plus underperformed the camera on the Galaxy S6 Edge in almost every situation. This goes to show that the Galaxy S6 Edge's better specs on paper translate to superior pictures.
However, a minor pain point was pointed out with the Galaxy S6 Edge camera. Sources said it did not provide a good amount of white balance, leading to whites and grey being reproduced with a warmer tint.
The front-facing camera on the Galaxy S6 Edge is also expected to outperform its rival from Apple since it has an f/1.9 lens compared to the f/2.2 lens present on the iPhone 6 Plus.
