Samsung Galaxy S6 Features, Specs Review: Microsoft Apps Coming and Cut Size of TouchWiz

Current rumors around the Galaxy S6 hint that Samsung is keen to remove several unwanted apps from it and replace them with the ones from Microsoft. Samsung is also reportedly planning to reduce the phone's bulky TouchWiz skin.

If these two rumors turn out to be true, it could mean that Samsung's upcoming flagship phone would be much faster than its other premium devices including the Galaxy Note 4 phablet.

These rumors originated from the SamMobile website which has been a source of good leaks in the past. The website said many of the current apps that come with the Galaxy S5 will not be found anymore in the Galaxy S6. Replacing them will be apps from Microsoft.

A major reason behind the inclusion of Microsoft apps could be because Samsung recently settled a lawsuit with the major software developer.

So far, there is no news yet about the specific Microsoft apps that would find their way into the Galaxy S6. But all indications are that Skype, Office, OneNote and OneDrive will be among the major inclusions as these are extremely popular with users.

As for the apps that have been scrapped from the Galaxy S6, Forbes stated that these could be S Voice, Scrapbook S Note, and S Health. However, even though these apps will no longer be included when the device ships, users can still download them from the Galaxy Apps store if they need them.

Regarding the TouchWiz skin, this has been a pain point in Samsung's devices for a while as it slows them down considerably. Now it appears that the company has finally decided to ship the Galaxy S6 with the latest Android operating system that is very much like a stock version and keep customization to a minimum.
