Samsung Galaxy S6 Problems: Purple Specks Reported in Pictures Taken from 5-Megapixel Front Camera of Galaxy S6
A problem with the selfie camera on a Galaxy S6 unit was revealed recently on a thread on Reddit where a user posted a picture with purple specks. The user claimed that the picture with the purple specks was taken using his Galaxy S6 camera. Since then many other users have reported the same issue with the cameras on their Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
The defect was first noticed in a photo taken in low light from the phone's 5-megapixel selfie camera. The person who first reported the problem said the purple specks started appearing suddenly, adding that previously the camera on his Galaxy S6 had been functioning properly.
This problem has not been reported by users of other phone cameras. Moreover, only a few Galaxy S6 users have reported seeing purple specks on their photos. This appears to indicate that not all Galaxy S6 units exhibit this particular problem.
If Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge owners are noticing purple specks on photos they can opt to lower the front camera's resolution from 5 megapixels to 3.8 megapixels.
Other users are noticing blue dots instead of purple dots in low light photos.
As for the problem causing the purple specks or blue dots to appear, this has not yet been identified. Users who posted the problem on the original Reddit thread said they were able to have their phone replaced from the store or carrier where they purchased the device.
Most stores like Best Buy offer to replace defective devices purchased from them if they are returned within 14 days from the date of purchase. Many who have discovered the defect have used the return policy to get their device replaced as this problem cannot seem to be fixed by any software as it appears to be an issue with the sensor.
