Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Features Glass Back Panel, Dual Edge Design
With the Samsung Galaxy S6 expected to be launched during the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona, Spain, on March 2-5, 2015, rumors about the Korean company's next flagship smartphone have begun piling up.
The latest unconfirmed report indicates that Samsung may be planning to provide the S6 with a glass back panel. The report originated from an unnamed source from within Samsung.
If true, this will dispel a widely held belief that the company is designing a metal unibody for the S6. The metal body was earlier hinted when an image of a metal casing for the phone was leaked and widely circulated.
However, other sources have been quick to point out that rumors pointing towards a metal frame and glass back panel could be false because Apple had already tried it out but did not have much luck with it.
SamMobile has meanwhile reported that the Galaxy S6 could have a fingerprint sensor based on touch rather than swipe, and that it would be incorporated into a slightly larger home button. The current flagship smartphone from Samsung, the S5, which has not done well, has a swipe-based version. As for its functions, the sensor, according to the report, will allow users to unlock the phone, sign into the web, and even activate pay via PayPal.
The most recent rumor about the S6, and undoubtedly the biggest one, indicates that it will come with dual edges. GSM Arena, reporting on the rumor, states that the device will have the model number SM-G925 and will be coined the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Using the two independent screens, users will be able to easily check notifications Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Finance, sports and briefs. Also on the dual edges will be the favorite apps panel, pedometer that works with the aid of S Health, and contacts. Added to this will be Night Clock, Express Me and other apps which will become available in Samsung store for apps.
