Samsung Galaxy S6 Tips and Tricks: How to Fully Enjoy Using this Latest Phone on Sale Now

Galaxy S6 | SAMSUNG

With the Galaxy S6 now on sale, here are some nice tips and tricks – some new ones – to enable you to fully enjoy your latest smartphone.

As soon as you switch on your device, you can simplify your navigation. To do this, bring up the notification shade and edit it by placing features and functions that you use most often into it. You can do the same for the settings menu by placing all the important ones into the Quick settings section. Press the edit button at the top right and then you can choose nine settings you use the most and they will be displayed as icons.

Next up is the fingerprint scanner. You can program four fingerprints into your S6. If you are comfortable using the phone with one hand, you can store the print of your thumb or otherwise store the print of your forefinger and thumb and even set up a backup password.

The Galaxy S6 has a wonderfully crisp screen and now you can choose whether you want to have normal or dense colors. The basic color mode is better than the rest and you can enable it by going to Settings > Display > Screen Mode.

Switching on the download booster is something you should do if you are downloading large files. Once turned on, it will combine both your Wi-Fi and mobile connection.

If you feel that you need more icons on your home screen, the Galaxy S6 allows you to do this by fitting in five instead of four columns, which makes the icons smaller but the high resolution screen makes them still easy to read.

With your Galaxy S6 in hand, you no longer need to use your TV remote control as it has a IR blaster that allows you to control your TV. To use it, check the Peel Smart Remote app that comes preinstalled and go through the setup wizard to install it. Notably the app also acts as a TV guide.

A simple trick to make the S6 faster involves putting your most used apps into the home screen and lining it up in the dock. Finally, if you just want to take a photo within a few seconds, tap on the home button twice, and the camera will launch even if the screen is not active.
