Samsung Gear S3 release date news update: New smartwatch to debut at IFA 2016 this September?
Samsung Gear S2 was clearly a success that a refreshed version of the wearable device is expected from the South Korean tech giant. Samsung has yet to officially announce about the next smartwatch, the Samsung Gear S2, but there are now rumors that an unveiling of the device is happening soon.
According to an exclusive from Sam Mobile, the Gear S2 is set to take the stage at the 2016 International Funkausstellung (IFA) Berlin. The event usually takes place in Berlin and for this year, it will happen from September 2 to 7. Typically, Samsung introduces the Galaxy Note series during the event, but as noted in the report, the latest addition to the Note family will debut on Aug. 2, so it's likely that the smartwatch will be given focus at the IFA 2016.
A source for the news outlet has also claimed that Gear S3 won't have significant changes and will, in fact, continue the rotary bezel design from its predecessor. This means that users will expect a round-faced design from the upcoming smartwatch and scrolling through menus is still possible when rotating the bezel.
Apart from the rotating bezel, not much is known about the next wearable device from Samsung. However, there are reports stating that the smart watch is expected to have a built-in GPS feature for better tracking functions. It was also reported that Gear S3 will carry a more powerful battery unit and a more powerful Tizen OS, which will also improve the device's overall performance.
Techno Buffalo also reported that Samsung may be in collaboration with De Grisogono, a Swiss luxury watch specialist to develop a high-end variant of the Gear S3 that could launch early next year.
Fans are already excited to see a new smartwatch but Samsung has not officially announced any details about the device yet, so it's best to take the reports with a grain of salt.
