Samsung Gear S3 release date, specs and latest news: Top-of-the-line features every fan should know
There is no stopping Samsung from coming out with new gadgets following the controversy surrounding Note 7. Samsung Gear S3 will be released internationally in no time while the Galaxy Note S8 is already making rounds for a possible announcement.
Samsung Gear S3 was just unveiled at this year's IFA Berlin and has already been rolled out in South Korea. The imminent wearable device is already offered for preorders in the United States for $349.99 and it is set to reach the market on Nov. 18. Samsung Gear S3 will also be available in Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Singapore and Dubai on the same date.
The smartwatch is being talked about due to its improved Long-Term Evolution (LTE) connection, among others. Design-wise, it is available in two choices: Frontier and Classic. Both Gear S3 variants have the same specs except in their design. The Classic model boasts a stainless steel shell with a rotating bezel while the Frontier model has a more casual look.
The two Gear S3 models also differ in weight as the Frontier is 62 grams heavy while the Classic model is lighter at 57 grams. The Frontier LTE has support for fast, wireless internet connection.
Under the hood, both pack impressive specs, including a Gorilla Glass SR+ for screen protection, 1.3-inch of display with active-matrix light-emitting diode (AMOLED) technology and 360 x 360-pixel resolution, Samsung's own Exynos 7270 dual 1GHz processor, 768 MB of random-access memory (RAM), 4 GB of built-in storage and Tizen operating system.
Samsung Gear S3 also allows its users to send SMS messages, stream music via Spotify and use tracking and other useful apps without necessitating a smartphone connection. The smartwatch can also support other features such as SOS signaling, speedometer, barometer, voice messages and handwriting recognition, among others.
Other specs include an impressive water-resistant feature, allowing the Gear S3 to withstand 5 feet underwater for half an hour. It also has a 380-milliampere-hour (mAh) battery that promises four days of life with a single charge.
