San Antonio Spurs trade rumors: Ginobili to play his last season with the Spurs
With one of the most successful NBA careers for a foreign player, it appears that Manu Ginobili of the San Antonio Spurs is ready to hang up his hat after this campaign.
The Argentine superstar has reportedly expressed his desire to end his professional career in playing basketball.
In the recent Rio Olympics, Ginobili also played his last game for his country, and it seems that he is ready to end it for his profession as well.
It is said that many expect Ginobili to play limited minutes in the coming year, but since he wants to go out strong, he will likely put on his best performances for the Spurs.
Starting his career with the Spurs, Ginobili is entering his 15th season with the team and has enjoyed multiple successes throughout his career.
At 39 years old, Ginobili is a two-time NBA All-Star back in 2004–05 and in the 2010–11 season.
He has also won four championships with the team, winning it all back in the 2002–03, 2004–05, 2006–07 and 2013–14 seasons.
In his career, Ginobili averages 14.0 points and 4.0 assists per game, while playing about 26 minutes per night.
However, last season was one of his least productive seasons as he only played 58 games at under 20 minutes per night. It resulted in him averaging 9.6 points per game, lowest since his rookie season of 7.6 per contest.
Despite that, Manu made 45 percent of his shots last year, increasing from 43 percent from the year before.
It shows that the Argentine still has some left in the tank and is willing to give it all to win his fifth title with the Spurs.
Ginobili will be the second of the team's "Big Three" who is seemingly ready to hang it up, as Tim Duncan announced his retirement from basketball a few weeks before.
