San Antonio Spurs trade rumors update: Spurs looking to deal for young star
Still looking to add to their team, the San Antonio Spurs are continuously being linked to a big man from the Philadelphia 76ers.
Sports Rageous links Nerlens Noel to a move to the Western Conference powerhouse by the start of the season as the team wants to maintain a "Twin Tower" look with LaMarcus Aldridge.
The Spurs are still one of the elite teams in the league with players like Aldridge, Kahwi Leonard, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker in the line-up. However, the last two are now entering the twilight of their careers and the Spurs have a closing window when it comes to winning a title with Parker and Ginobili still in the lineup.
After them, the future of the team is with the young crop. Still, the Spurs appear to be adding young blood to the team if they can convince to Noel to join the lineup.
Another rumor links Sixers big man Jahlil Okafor to the Spurs if the Texas-based team cannot land Noel.
The Sixers are front-loaded with Okafor, Noel and Joel Embiid. One of them must go in order to free up space up top.
According to the article, Patty Mills and Danny Green may potentially be given up to land one of the young centers from the Sixers. This shows just how much the Spurs want to remain relevant in the championship conversation without having to go through a complete rebuild.
With teams like the Golden State Warriors continually growing strong, the Spurs have to make the necessary adjustments in order to have a lineup that can compete with their rivals.
Both Noel and Okafor will be great for the Spurs as either can operate on both ends of the floor and have a lot of room for development. Pairing them with established players like Aldridge and Leonard can only help them improve and it will help the Spurs secure a big man for at least a few more seasons.
