'Scandal' season 6 news, episode 4 spoilers: Is Cyrus innocent? more of Mellie and Marcus' relationship to be featured
Cyrus (Jeff Perry) has been brought behind bars for Frankie's (Ricardo Chavira) murder, but there's a twist coming, and it might be that he's innocent. Meanwhile, Mellie (Bellamy Young) and Marcus (Cornelius Smith Jr.) might continue on with their relationship.
In the upcoming fourth episode of "Scandal" season 6, titled "The Belt," Cyrus will continue to defend himself despite already being placed behind bars for Frankie's murder.
The synopsis for the upcoming episode reads, "Cyrus faces his ultimate challenge but continues to stop at nothing to prove his innocence. Meanwhile, Olivia (Kerry Washington) and the gladiators uncover shocking new evidence about the night Frankie was shot."
It appears that shocking new piece of evidence will change the way Olivia and the gladiators see Cyrus and question if he is at fault for Frankie's murder. As seen from the episode promo, a beaten up Cyrus in his cell tells Olivia on the phone, "It wasn't me Liv. Trust your gut."
With Cyrus behind bars and a damaged reputation, the presidency might be handed over to Mellie as she is seen already having a mini celebration with Olivia. Especially with Fitz' (Tony Goldwyn) support, Mellie could be the president of the United States.
In an interview with TVLine, Goldwyn shared that Fitz believes in Mellie's ability to become a great president. "I think he'll do whatever he can to support her. Deep down, I think he really believes in Mellie's potential," the actor said.
Aside from possibly getting the presidency, Mellie might also get a relationship with Marcus. Goldwyn explained that even though Marcus is a member of his staff, he will not stand in the way of Mellie's happiness.
"Fitz wants Mellie to be happy, and if Marcus makes her happy, I think Fitz would tell her to be with him," Goldwyn added.
"Scandal" season 6 airs every Thursday night at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
