The highly anticipated second season of "Sense8" will kick off with a special episode in time for the Christmas holiday.

Netflix officially released the sneak peek for the two-hour Christmas special which will be released on Friday, Dec. 23. It showed that the sensates still have a strong connection mentally despite being in separate parts of the world.

The trailer begins with a scene showing Sun Bak (Doona Bae) detained alone inside a prison, but the rest of the sensates join her as they practice tai chi inside her prison cell.

A romantic moment between Will (Brian J. Smith) and Riley (Tuppence Middleton) in the middle of the snow is also featured in the trailer. But the date will be short lived, since the members of Whispers' (Terrence Mann) organization suddenly catches up with Will.

The sensates' enemies will run after Will, but Sun Bak will tell him to keep calm so she can get inside his mind and defend him from his attackers. Toward the end of the trailer, all the eight sensates from the August 8 cluster will be seen connected with each other as they face the threats for the upcoming year.

Aside from the trailer, the streaming service provider also released a short interview with series co-creator Lana Wachowski who explains why they opted to come up with a Christmas special. According to Wachowski, there will always be something special during holidays and birthday celebrations. "Holidays can make you feel so connected in the way that holidays can make you feel so isolated and alone. I wanted to tell a story in this first episode that was kind of about time and presence and how these new lives of these characters made them feel empowered, like they can do anything as long as they're together," Wachowski stated in the video.

The rest of the episodes for "Sense8" season 2 will return to Netflix on May 5, 2017.
