'Sense8' season 2 news, updates: Series canceled due to casting and financial problems? Spin-off being considered?
Production for "Sense8" season 2 has been well underway for quite some time now, but there are speculations that the Netflix series might be getting axed.
Personal Twitter posts and updates from the cast and writers of "Sense8" kept fans updated with the progress of production for the second installment of the series. New cast members were even added to the show, with Bollywood actor Sikander Kher being the latest addition to the show.
Kher is set to play the show's newest villain, one worse than Whispers (Terrence Mann). He's also set to figure in a "love cube" with Wolfgang (Max Riemelt), Kala (Tina Desai), and Rajan (Purab Kohli). According to reports, Kher's yet-to-be-named character is a victim of Kala's unrequited love. With Wolfgang supposedly ending things with Kala, the latter would go back to her fiancé, Rajan. However, conflict will arise as Kher's character tries to fight off both Rajan and Wolfgang for Kala's affections.
Nevertheless, Australia News Network said that Kher has been causing trouble on the production. Apparently, the actor is demanding too much from Netflix, prompting the streaming network to consider axing the show. Apart from Kher's demands, there are rumors that the production of the series is costing Netflix too much.
Fans of the show know that various scenes from the series are shot in different parts of the world. With Kher's supposed financial demands and production expenses, Netflix is purportedly seeing no other way out but to cancel the sophomore season of "Sense8."
Parent Herald noted that since there is no official announcement yet from the showrunners and Netflix, the speculations should be taken with a grain of salt.
Still, fans are hoping the network will give the show another chance since the series has always been well received. The showrunners have already promised wonderful things for the coming season, including the Sensates exploring their full capabilities, and fans could only hope they would see these come to life. Fans are also hoping that a spin-off will be considered in case the show gets axed.
"Sense8" season 2 is expected to drop in early 2017. Should things go well for the series, fans could expect a holiday special to air this December as well.
