"Sex and the City" ("SATC") fans may finally be getting the spinoff they have long been praying for.

Kim Cattrall, who played the sexually confident Samantha Jones over six seasons of the cult favorite HBO series and in two follow-up "Sex and the City" films, recently hinted that there may soon be a spinoff series about Sam coming to HBO.

The news broke last week after Wendy Williams implied that HBO is planning to launch a "Sex and the City" spinoff during the Hot Topics portion of her "The Wendy Williams Show." According to the TV host, Cattrall would reprise her role as the independent PR boss Samantha and the actress is currently in talks with the network to bring the outspoken "try-sexual" back to the small screen.

After Williams' segment aired, the host tweeted about her "SATC" spinoff scoop and, to fans' surprise, Cattrall responded, seemingly confirming the report.

"I'm so unbelievably flattered & moved @WendyWilliams," the actress wrote. "Can't WAIT 2 get back 2 the serious business of making u all laugh! Fingers x'd," she added.

When a fan asked Cattrall if her tweet meant that an "SATC" spinoff is indeed in development, the actress answered with a "fingers crossed" message, implying that the spinoff isn't a done deal but that she is hopeful it will be.

Fans responded enthusiastically to Cattrall's "SATC" tweets, expressing their excitement to see at least one of the "SATC" quartet back on television.

While the spinoff has yet to be confirmed, it may be safe to assume that the reports of an upcoming "SATC" spinoff are more than just speculation. Glamour added that Cattrall would not have given even the vaguest hint about the topic if there wasn't a possibility of it actually happening.

The popular HBO series, which aired its final episode in 2004, has long been plagued with rumors of spinoffs and/or additional films following "Sex and the City" (2008) and "Sex and the City 2" (2010). In October, "SATC" star Sarah Jessica Parker spoke about the possibility of reprising her role as Carrie Bradshaw, telling Andy Cohen, "I would love [a sequel]."

"I think we've all been fairly vocal about being very keen but that hasn't created any ground swell of movement," she added.

HBO has yet to confirm that it is working on a "Sex and the City" spinoff.
