'Shadow of The Tomb Raider' release date: Reddit user leaks photo showing 'Tomb Raider' sequel development
Although it hasn't been confirmed, recent rumors surrounding Crystal Dynamics' Lara Croft trilogy suggested that a new title is in development. A leaked snapshot of the game revealed that it will be titled "Shadow of the Tomb Raider." Furthermore, the leak said that the upcoming installment will not be developed by Crystal Dynamics.
A Reddit user by the name of Tripleh280 posted a photo taken from a subway in Montreal, showing a person working on a presentation for a particular "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" project on his laptop. The presentation that the person was working on even had the official logo of the franchise on it.
Montreal is home to a number of massive video game studios; hence, it won't be completely unusual to spot a member of the development team working on a title. For the upcoming game, reports suggested that Eidos Montreal, video game developers of "Thief" and "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided," will be creating the title. Sources noted that if "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" is indeed the current title for the upcoming sequel, it will still be subject to change as the development for the game progresses.
According to Kotaku, an inside source informed the news outlet that the rumored title is currently the title for the third installment in the series. But when asked to comment on the latest rumors, a representative of Square Enixt told IGN they don't respond to rumors.
If the rumors are true, gamers are expecting the upcoming installment of the franchise to launch in a few more years for the PlayStation4, Xbox One and PC.
Since the studio hasn't confirmed the new title, excited gamers should treat the latest reports as speculation until proven otherwise.
Watch out for more updates on "Shadow of the Tomb Raider."
