'Sherlock' season 4 release date, news and updates: New photos feature Baby Watson and the rest of the cast
The third season of BBC's "Sherlock" saw John Watson (Martin Freeman) supposedly moving on from Sherlock's (Benedict Cumberbatch) death and dating Mary (Amanda Abbington). The two eventually got married in the season, and new promotional photos for season four show the two of them with a child.
The picture came along with a bunch of other photos of the returning cast members, and by the looks of it, Sherlock doesn't seem to be too pleased with having baby Watson as a competitor for John's attention.
There are also images of Sherlock's older brother, Mycroft Holmes (Mark Gatiss), and it looks like he is once again employing the work of Sherlock on a mysterious case. There's also another look at the hound that Sherlock was seen with in earlier promo images, as well as the return of Sherlock's kind, old landlady Mrs. Hudson (Una Stubbs).
The set also gives fans a first look at actor Toby Jones who will be entering the series as Sherlock's new arch nemesis, Culverton Smith. Interestingly enough, in the original books, Moriarty, Sherlock's original nemesis, was a man of old age. In the series, Moriarty (Andrew Scott) looks to be the same age as Sherlock. Since the Culverton in this series is evidently older, is it possible that he is the actual Moriarty?
Rumors have been going around that this will be the final season of BBC's "Sherlock." Given that lead actors Cumberbatch and Freeman have gotten a lot busier ever since they started the show, it's possible that the actors have no more time to be in the series, or they have rather gotten too expensive.
Nevertheless, fans are still happy to see the two returning for a fourth season of the BBC hit show. "Sherlock" is said to return on Jan. 1, 2017.
