Since it has been years since the release of "Sherlock" season 3, many are anticipating the continuation of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson's adventures.
Many are excited to see the return of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in their iconic roles, especially after a long wait. With just several weeks until the release of the new season, there is a lot of anticipation regarding what the story will present.
Recent reports indicated that the upcoming season will introduce Thatcher, Smith, and Sherrinford. It was stated that those will be explored in each episode of the upcoming season. With that, fans can expect a lot of interesting developments in the narrative. Aside from that, there are speculations that another reunion could be in order.
It was teased that Sherlock could be reunited with Irene Adler, played by Lara Pulver, which will definitely excite many fans of the series. Meanwhile, it was teased that the upcoming season will bring some darker themes in the season ahead. Reports stated that it will be a lot darker than the past seasons of the hit series.
Steven Moffat, the producer of the series, explained that this will be due to the villain of the upcoming season, who will be played by Toby Jones. Moffat stated, "He's completely different. It's a completely different character. He's the darkest villain we've had. There was always something charming and engaging about Moriarty. There was something fascinating and actually amoral, rather than immoral, about Charles Augustus Magnussen. This guy is the purest evil. Sherlock is actually appalled by him. He's the most evil villain we've had. I don't think that when you see it, you will disagree. He's horrific."
They also teased that Jones' villainous character will be a lot more different than the previous villains of the show.
