Six people were arrested this past Sunday when they reportedly heckled evangelical pastor Joel Osteen during a service at his Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas.

Eyewitnesses, along with the Houston police, report that the six suspects reportedly stood up while Osteen was speaking and began to shout, calling the well-known preacher a "liar."

The hecklers have been identified as members of The Church of Wells in Wells, Texas.

"[The Heckler] jumped up with his bible and started screaming 'Shame on you Joel, shame on you Joel' and Joel kind of just repeated scripture and they just escorted them out," Casey Eaglin, one of the churchgoers who witnessed the outburst, told KHOU-TV.

Videos taken from eyewitnesses show the hectic scene as the six hecklers are escorted out of the church. In one video shared by KTRK-TV, Osteen can be heard telling the congregation: "Thank you all for your patience and we'll just continue to receive what God has for us. It's a good day to be alive."

Another churchgoer, Anwar Richardson, told KSPR-TV that he and his wife chose to leave the church after the hecklers started.

"The moment he started to preach, somebody gets up and they yell 'Joel Osteen you're a liar,'" Richardson told the local media outlet.

"After the sixth time that it occurred, my son was sleeping in my lap, and I looked at my wife and she was nervous and we just decided we have to get out of here," Richardson added.
