Viewers could not get over the insane chemistry of Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo in the South Korean television romance drama "Descendants of the Sun" so fans will be happy to know the on-screen couple reunited.
Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo worked on the commentary for the "Descendants of the Sun" DVD along with a couple of cast members and other people behind the show.
Apart from the lead stars, cast members Jin Goo and Kim Ji-won were also included for the commentary recording as well as writers Kim Eun-sook and Kim Won-suk and director Lee Eung-bok.
According to Asia Times, this is the first time in six months that the cast had a reunion, which is why photos of Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo side by side took "Descendants of the Sun" fans over the moon.
Apart from the long-awaited reunion for the DVD, fans will also get a lot from the special project, including a director's cut of the final episode, which has some revisions.
There are also behind-the-scenes footages allowing fans to see what the stars were up to in between takes and also some deleted scenes and even a music video.
"Descendants of the Sun" was an instant hit when it aired on KBS2 from February to April. This was mostly due to Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo's effortless chemistry.
The series tells the love story of Yoo Si-jin (Song Joong-ki), a captain of a South Korean Special Forces unit and Dr. Kang Mo-yeon (Song Hye-kyo), with the former immediately head over heels for the latter the moment he laid his eye son her.
It was rumored that a second season of "Descendants of the Sun" is in the works, although a confirmation for this has not been made yet. Of course, fans hope that it will come to fruition.
For now, fans will have to do with the "Descendants of the Sun" DVD. Unfortunately, there's no word on when it will be released.
