Sony Xperia C4 release date update: Smartphone to run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, to feature finger sensor?
Those waiting for Sony Xperia C4 are in for some outstanding news. According to reports, the smartphone unit has just received Google's much-anticipated Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. This means awesome features are now included in the model.
Apparently, the features will include the Doze Mode and the Google Now on Tap, among others. Sony Mobile confirmed this much in a recent blog post, adding that the update will not only unlock a wide range of exciting features but also changes to the user interface.
The Sony Xperia C4 was initially launched in May 2015, with consumers getting their hands on it a month later. It came pre-loaded with the Android 5.0 Lollipop when it came out.
For those unfamiliar with the phone, it features a 5.5-inch full HD IPS display with 1920x1080 resolution and 401ppi of pixel density. It boasts of a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash support, 25mm wide-angle lens, a 13-megapixel primary camera, and Exmor R sensor support, which means the smartphone's camera can take quality pictures even in low-light conditions.
It also boasts an octa-core Cortex-A53 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB internal storage that can be expanded to 200 GB with microSD card support. The LTE-compatible device has 2600 mAh battery with up to 12 hours of talk time and is dual-SIM.
Additionally, Phone Arena reports that the Sony Xperia X Compact will be launched after the Sony Xperia C4 release. US Consumers can now pre-order the device through Amazon.com for $499.99. Apparently, the unlocked version will feature three color options that include Universe Black, White, and Mist Blue. Those who pre-order can expect delivery by Sept. 25, as per reports.
There are rumors the Sony Xperia C4 will require at least 500 MB free storage space and 50 percent battery life to install the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Those who want to update the OS manually need just go to Settings, then to About Device, click on Software Update, and choose Check for Updates.
