The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is often touted as the best phablet of 2014. When compared to recently launched smartphones like the Sony Xperia Z4, the Note 4 maintains its edge in terms of better features and functionality although it lags in the sphere of specs. Here is a comparison between the Galaxy Note 4 and the Sony Xperia Z4.
Design
The Note 4 has Samsung's old design format – plastic body with its back panel covered with faux leather. The only premium element in the phablet it is metal frame. However, it has two major selling points in the form of its S-pen stylus and the fingerprint sensor in its home button. These features are not present on the Xperia Z4. The Sony device has better design with a metal frame, glass on its back panel, and resin coating on its corners. It also has a waterproof rating of IP 68, which means it can survive up to depths of 1.5 meters underwater for 30 minutes.
Display
The Xperia Z4 is a smaller device and consequently has a smaller IPS LCD screen measuring 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 424 pixels per inch. As for the Note 4, it has a Super AMOLED screen measuring 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 515 pixels per inch.
Specs
The Xperia Z4 has a better Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores and four Cortex-A57 cores along with an Adreno 430 GPU. As for the Note 4 it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, a quad-core Krait 450 CPU clocked at 2.7 GHz and an Adreno 420 GPU.
Memory
Both devices have memory slots which allow for up to 128 GB of external storage to be added. They also have similar 3 GB RAM onboard.
Price
The Note 4 is priced at $299 with a two-year contract while the Sony Xperia Z4 could be priced at $900 at full retail if it comes to the United States.
